On this page, I have tried to list a few helpful guide and tips for cooking and baking.
A) Conversion Chart: One of the most essentials in baking is to get the measurements right, since baking is very much a science. This small table will help you do that:

B) Kitchen Tips: A helpful tip is never a waste, specially not in kitchen. Here are few of mine:
- Adding a pinch of salt to onions, while browning them ensures more even browning
- Adding pinch of salt while cooking masalas and tomatoes speedens the process
- Adding few fengugreek (methi) seeds to the idli batter makes the idlis softer
- Adding a tbsp of milk to poha (flattened rice) makes fluffier poha
- Adding 1-2 tbsp of milk while making the dough for rotis, makes softer rotis (Indian flatbread)
- Crushing kasturi methi with fingertips while adding it to the curry, releases more aroma
- Immerse coconut in water for 1/2 an hour to remove its husk
- Garlic skins will come out easily if its slightly warm
- Don't store potatoes and onions together. The smell of each other makes them rot faster
- Soak cauliflower in warm salted water for some time to get rid of any insect present deep inside in the florets, not visible to naked eye
- Add a pinch of soda bicarb to the water to boil peas etc. faster and also to retain their bright green colour
- Rotate the chappatis at 45 degree while rolling to get perfect circular shape
- Adding few drops of lemon juice or vinegar to rice makes it whiter while adding little ghee or oil separates the grains
- To delay the process of melting of ice cream (or anything chilled) when serving, chill the serving dish as well in the refrigerator.
